ACH (Automated Clearing House)

Listing all casinos accepting ACH

The automated clearing house (ACH) is a secure network of financial institutions that connects participating banks in the United States to each other. ACH processing was developed jointly by the private sector and the Federal Reserve in the 1970s as a more efficient alternative to traditionally check payments. Simply put, the ACH network moves money from one individual to another electronically.

It allows the casino to debit and credit your checking and saving accounts, provided you have granted permission. For example, if you wanted to deposit $100 into your casino account, then the ACH processing system will allow the casino to deduct these $100 from your bank account after verification and only after you have granted permission for the casino to do this. Similarly, if the casino owed you $100, this money would be transferred electronically to your bank account.

How does ACH work?

When you swipe your debit or credit card at a retail checkout counter, you may have noticed this slight pause when the system approves the transaction before proceeding. This is the essential function of a clearing house, the role of an intermediary, clearing and settling payments between participating financial institutions. ACH ensures that your account actually has the money or your credit is available before authorizing a transaction. A clearing house sets the ground rules for the transaction, accepts funds from the payer and assures the payee that the transaction is good. Only then the clearing house effectuates the transfer of funds from one account to the other.

The Federal Reserve Board, the American Clearing House Association, Visa and other operators act as central clearing facilities for the ACH network. To use ACH, a financial institution must become a member of this network first. The financial institution would then be able to relay batches of payments and debits into it. The ACH system would, in turn, sort the incoming payments and debits from among all the received batches, sending them on to its intended receiving destination. Transactions handled in this manner include direct payroll deposits, debit card payments, automated online bill payments, business transactions and Internet purchases.

This method of payment has been available in the United States for many years now and the majority of banks are capable of processing payments via the ACH system. Since ACH processing is batch-oriented, it does not provide real time authorization of transactions. It acts as the central clearing (settlement and distribution) facility for all nationwide Electronic Fund Transfers among financial banking institutions. Transactions received during the day are collected and stored until a large number has accumulated. These commissioned payments are then sorted by destination and processed in batch. In case of problems, such as insufficient funds, the transaction is not carried out and funds are returned.

How will ACH Payment Processing save money and time?

ACH offers cost effective solutions that help reduce check and credit card associated costs. The payment processing and reporting is automated, which helps to lower the risk of delayed payments and any resulting interest charges. Usually, funds are processed, cleared, debited or credited to your casino account electronically within 2 business days.

You can withdraw your winnings directly to your bank account, accept payments by phone or online, set up recurring billing, and convert paper checks into eChecks. ACH is available to residents of North America only and transactions are available at many casinos of whom most are Microgaming Casinos. All funds are electronically transferred from a valid banking account.

  • ACH is a paperless transactions - no purchase of checks and no postage required.
  • Less payment problems due to lost, stolen or misdirected checks.
  • No mail delivery delays! Provides for greater payment certainty - payment is received in time!
  • Reduced bank service charges! Excellent alternative to checks and credit cards (there are still many people out there who either have no credit card or are reluctant to use them).
  • Reduced Bank service charges, you won’t have to pay credit card interest rates. Unlike credit card processing, which normally takes a percentage of the transaction, ACH is a less expensive option, because they often only take one low fee per transaction. No late fee needed.

Security

In terms of security, all transactions through the ACH network are governed by the rules of the National Automated Clearing House Associate or short NACHA, which promotes the development of electronic payments and provides initiatives for risk management. Seemingly just another payment processing system, ACH is by far the most secure and convenient service available today. In fact, this system is so reliable and secure that federal banks and government institutions use it.
